Accuracy over defensiveness

If a material error or important update is identified, the Centre should correct the affected page, update connected downloads, record the decision and check whether the same claim appears elsewhere.

Correction levels

  • Minor editorial correction: typo or formatting with no substantive change.
  • Material correction: a factual or evidence interpretation issue that users should be told about.
  • Urgent withdrawal: content that may be unsafe, materially misleading or based on an invalid safeguarding/contact route.

Evidence concern route

Before public launch, the site should provide a dedicated way to report an evidence concern. It should ask for the page, statement concerned, reason and optional supporting source/contact details. It must not be used as the safeguarding or complaints route.

Downloads

Every future PDF or printable guide should carry a resource ID, version, publication date, evidence-check date and instruction to check the website for the latest version.
