Accessibility target
The Centre should be built and tested against WCAG 2.2 AA as the technical target, alongside user testing with disabled and neurodivergent participants.
Core requirements
- Logical heading order and landmark structure.
- Keyboard access with visible focus.
- Text that reflows and can be resized.
- Sufficient contrast and no meaning conveyed by colour alone.
- Descriptive links, alt text and captions/transcripts for multimedia.
- Form labels, instructions and error messages that work with assistive technology.
- Mobile layouts with usable touch targets.
- Plain-English summaries and Easy Read/alternative formats where appropriate.
Accessible PDFs
Downloads should not be the only route to essential information. Important content should remain available as accessible HTML, with printable documents treated as a companion format.
Venue information
Accessibility on the website should also help users understand real-world access: arrival, parking, route, toilets, seating, sensory environment, communication and emergency arrangements.
